Ridiculous New Anti-Deeds Ad

A new TV ad from the Republican Governor’s Association attacks Creigh Deeds for proposing one billion dollars in new spending.

NLS:

One Billion Dollars in new spending? Let’s break that down:

Virginia’s budget’s are done in two year bienniums. That means the “One Billion” dollars is actually $500 million per year over two years.

So what was the $500 million dollars in new spending Creigh Deeds proposed? From the Free Lance Star article cited in the ad: “Much of that–more than $400 million a year–comes from Deeds’ proposal to raise teacher salaries to the national average…”

Guess who else wants to raise teacher salaries to the national average? Bob McDonnell.

Two and a half million dollars are being spent to air this piece of sh*t.

FAIL.

Gypsies on Stafford County

Today Stafford County sheriffs arrested four Romanian gypsies who robbed an 89 year-old man.

WTTG FOX 5 interviewed two of his neighbors, who both agreed the man should have shot them. Morons. Don’t they know that gypsy tears can be used as currency in Kazakhstan?

‘Fire Marshall’ Milde to Stafford Vols: Re-Elect Me or ‘You Will Be Phased Out’

Author: From http://fred2blue.com • Jun 25th, 2009

Volunteer firefighters are an important element in Stafford County’s ability to respond well to any kind of emergency, 24/7.

Like in May 2008, when an F2 tornado touched down in the England Run Subdivision, it was first responders such as these that saved lives.

It'd be good to be the king!: Paul Milde hopes to be the next Stafford Board Chair.

It'd be good to be the king!: Paul Milde hopes to be the next Stafford Board Chair.

But the noble men and women – who sacrifice time with family and their paid-jobs plus overnight rest – are the latest unwitting shills in Paul Milde’s grand campaign to: buy re-elect himself Aquia District Supervisor, then become Emperor Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

Here’s an email blast he used to contact these first responders:

Dear Volunteer:

Last night at the Stafford County Board of Supervisor’s (sic.) meeting I attempted to get the support of other supervisors to create a committee of Chief Brown’s staff and volunteer presidents and chiefs that would discuss a compromise to the issue of painting vehicles with the Squad or Company colors of the volunteer station where is was being used. As it stands the Chief’s policy is that all new vehicles will get the same county colors.

I had absolutely no support from the other supervisors on this. I could not even get a “second” on my motion to form a committee.

I explained that the volunteers saved the county several million dollars a year and that this issue was important to you and should at least be discussed in earnest. I even suggested that as a last resort the volunteers might even bear part of the cost. That didn’t sway them either.

This board of supervisors has a bad track record with the volunteer rescue personnel and firefighters. If you don’t get together and speak as one your voices will not be heard and your opinions will not be heeded. You will be phased out. You need to help get pro volunteer supervisors, like me, elected.

I can personally assure you that Susan Stimpson running for supervisor in Falmouth and Gary Snellings running in Hartwood will never ignore you as this current majority has done. I need help on the board.

Please forward this email to every volunteer in Stafford that you can.

Paul Milde

Paul Milde is no Earl Scheib. And although at first glance you wouldn’t know it, this email to the fire vols is not about painting cars.

History repeats itself and this is not the first time that mirror-loving Milde has employed veiled threats to get what he wants: a crown, a scepter, an ermine cape, and dominion over the lives of Stafford County’s 120,000-plus residents .

But running against his fellow Rs on the Board (Garrisonville District Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer who is up for election this year and Rock Hill District Supervisor Cord Sterling) to become regent may be a new benchmark for him.

Milde will stop at nothing. No wonder he gives Bill Howell the vapors!

It is quite apparent from this email blast that Milde has no friends on the Stafford Board.

For Milde and The Dude, this is all about which of the two would emerge as Chair if the Board flips back to the Rs.

Either way, a disturbing prospect for Stafford County.

This is from a local Fox affiliate in Cleveland, OH. Their amazing re-creation of a black bear encounter really brings the story to life.  Thank god for particle board. And I’ll admit, as a former Lake Braddock Bruin, I got just a little bit choked up.

titanicWaPo’s Lisa de Moraes on the mounting anticipation of Jon & Kate’s big Monday announcement. From WaPo’s The TV Column:

It’s all a bit thick, but there’s no sense being subtle when you’re desperately trying to get people re-interested in what was supposed to be a documentary series about the challenges of parenting eight adorable moppets, but which in reality is a documentary about the pitfalls of being plucked from obscurity and put on a TV series if you have a none-too-solid marriage and the shared mental acuity of a peahen that had been dropped on its head as a chick.

I like my snark seared to perfection. Well done, Pookie! Well done!

UPDATE: Bombshell in the British Isles: 2 Members of BNP Elected to European Parliament

h/t to Russell in London for the alert.

American Mainstream Media:

Where is your outrage?

UPDATE Monday AM: Overnight, the BNP scored a second seat in the European Parliament with the election of another monster, BNP leader Nick Griffin from the Northwest Region of Britain. The Telegraph has more.

Tonight’s news from across-the-pond is not good.  Actually, it is quite terrible.

While we here in the Commonwealth of Virginia are gearing up for a very close and remarkably civil race for Governor in Tuesday’s primary, voters across-the-pond in the Yorkshire and Humber regions of the U.K. have done something quite mind-blowing and totally inconceivable; they have for the first time elected a member of the British National Party (the BNP)  to the European Parliament.

Churchill must be spinning in his grave. The ulta-right-wing (nazi) BNP party wins its first seat in the European Union Parliament

Churchill must be spinning in his grave: The ulta-right-wing (a.k.a. Nazi Party) BNP party wins its first seat with the election of Andrew Brons to the European Union Parliament.

The BNP’s win in this European Union governing body was at the expense of the ruling Labour Party that embattled Prime Minister Gordon Brown leads. Extreme far-right parties in other European countries won seats to the European Parliament as well.

So what’s the BNP about?  I’ll boil it down for you: Modern-Day Nazis.

Here via the hopenothate.org.uk website comes this chilling portrait of the BNP and its new standard-bearer in the European Parliament, Andrew Brons. (NOTE: pressed for time? Just read the first paragraph.):

If the BNP wanted to distance itself from nazism, the last person it should have chosen as a candidate is Andrew Brons.

A man with a long nazi pedigree, Brons (will get elected) to Europe if the BNP polls 11.5% in Yorkshire and The Humber, a region that has long been a target for the party. Perhaps Nick Griffin, the BNP leader, hopes that Brons’s background will be conducive to forming good relationships with the various fascists and Holocaust deniers he has been courting.

Brons, 61, started his nazi career in the National Socialist Movement, an organisation that was deliberately founded on Hitler’s birthday by Colin Jordan, the British nazi leader who died in April aged 85. NSM members were responsible for an arson campaign against Jewish property and synagogues in the 1960s.

Brons appears to have approved. In a letter to Jordan’s wife, Brons reported meeting an NSM member who “mentioned such activities as bombing synagogues”. He declared: “On This subject I have a dual view, in that I realise that he is well intentioned, I feel that our public image may suffer considerable damage as a result of these activities. I am however open to correction on this point.”

He also sent Mrs Jordan money to buy a swastika badge and other Nazi material, explaining he was about the undertake a “crash programme” of publicity for the NSM in Yorkshire by deluging areas with Nazi stickers, posters and slogans.

Selma, Alabama circa 1964? WRONG!

Brons was a prominent member of the National Front, notorious for its extreme racism and violence, from its early days and was voted onto its national directorate in 1974. Later as the NF’s education officer he hosted seminars on racial nationalism and tried to give its racism a more “scientific” basis.

After the departure of John Tyndall from the NF in March 1980 Brons was promoted to NF chairman. One of his allies during this period was Richard Verrall, the author of Did Six Million Really Die?, with whom he edited the NF journal New Nation. In 1982 Brons led an NF march through Northfield on which marchers chanted: “we’ve got to get rid of the blacks”.

In June 1984 Brons was convicted of behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace following his arrest in Leeds while selling papers in a shopping centre.

He and another NF member were heard shouting slogans such as “Death to Jews”, “White Power” and “National Front”. When approached by PC John Raj, Brons stated: “inferior beings like yourself probably do not understand the principle of free speech”.

Brons resigned as NF chairman in 1984 and later faded from public view. He has been a BNP member for around four years.

As President Obama returns from a trip that included a remarkably poignant and somber visit to Germany’s Buchenwald concentration camp the election of this monster to the European government must weigh heavily.

The admonition many of us learned in grade school – summoned by those who liberated (and were liberated from) the Nazi death camps in 1945 “this we must never forget” – has never been more-important.

Creigh Deeds Meets Fredericksburg Hospitality

Author: From http://fred2blue.com • Jun 6th, 2009

After Del. Pollard introduced him to former Fredericksburg Mayor Bill Beck at his store, Beck’s Antiques & Books on Caroline Street, Sen. Deeds was asked about the biggest game-changer of the campaign….his endorsement by The Washington Post:

He said that to get the support of a paper that is in the backyard of his opponents was a boost for his campaign.

“One candidate came in and thought it was his,” Deeds said. “And another came in and thought it was his for the taking.”

The Free Lance-Star also caught this funny exchange between Deeds and a diner at Sammy T’s:

Between talking about his stance on land conservation and green jobs, Creigh Deeds stopped to ask C.J. Majeska about the strange hue of his beer.

“Is that red beer?” Deeds asked. “What is that made of, cranberries?”

Majeska laughed and said no, that it was horrible, but only cost him $4 a pitcher.

G*d damm recession.

I know some people like to drink liberally, but Virginia’s a purple state. That’s why I prefer a candidate who drinks Warner-Kaine style…….in moderation. ;)

Deeds: The ‘Warner-Kaine’ Candidate for Governor

Author: From http://fred2blue.com • May 22nd, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Media.Local

On Monday, Del. Albert Pollard described Sen. Creigh Deeds as the Democratic candidate for Governor who’s “most in the Warner/Kaine mold.” Today, The Washington Post concurs (emphasis added):

Democratic voters may wonder: How can Mr. Deeds beat presumptive Republican nominee Robert F. McDonnell, who beat Mr. Deeds in the attorney general’s race four years ago? The answer: Mr. Deeds lost by a scant 323 votes out of roughly 2 million cast despite being outspent 2 to 1. This is one of only two governor’s races slated for the fall, and whoever wins the primary will have plenty of cash. Virginia is still more purple than blue, and Mr. Deeds’s moderate platform would have the broadest appeal.

Our judgment, though, is based on who would make the best governor in the Warner-Kaine tradition, not who would be the strongest candidate. Like those Northern Virginia senators who have endorsed Mr. Deeds — including Janet D. Howell, Mary Margaret Whipple, J. Chapman “Chap” Petersen, Charles J. Colgan and Richard L. Saslaw — we believe that he understands Northern Virginia. We also believe that he has the character, experience and savvy to be a successful leader of the entire commonwealth

‘Northern Neck News’ Shills for Crabill

Author: From http://fred2blue.com • May 20th, 2009
   Category: Blog Entries.Local, Media.Local

According to the Northern Neck News, the only reason Catherine Crabill’s candidacy is controversial is because she’s an unabashed Christian. Nowhere in this article is there any mention of her crazy, conspiracy theorist views. Instead, they frame this as the same old argument that social conservatives use all the time: That a poor Christian, in this case Crabill, is being persecuted and marginalized for her religious beliefs.

Crabill, the only person who had pre-filed for the nomination and therefore the only person eligible for the nomination to run against incumbent delegate Albert C. Pollard (D-Lancaster) was opposed by members of the party who felt her outspoken and assertive Christianity and states rights views would preclude her gathering a majority of votes against Pollard. At the district convention in Montross they moved that the party have no nominee, the only option other than nominating Crabill.
………………..
Ken Smith of Northumberland was four-square for Crabill. “We have someone (in Crabill) who knows we have God-given rights,” he said. “Crabill is a woman of integrity. I am tired of politicians.”

Bill Evans said, “I know this candidate. I wear shrapnel for this country. To have no candidate here, you will put Pollard back in office.”

Colston Newton and Beth Yeatman Spindler…..you fail.
